Control surfaces for the whole household — dashboards, keypads and switches
Updated
A system is only as good as the way people reach it, including guests and helpers who never installed an app. How we design phone, tablet and wall controls.
A smart home that only works from one person's phone is a smart home that annoys everyone else. We design how people reach the system, so that grandparents, guests and helpers can all do the small things they need without installing anything.
What we build
- Custom phone and tablet dashboards with the rooms and controls you actually use, not a screen of every device in the house.
- A wall-mounted tablet or scene keypads by the door and the bed, so common actions are one press away.
- A simple mode for anyone who just wants a button: lights, curtains, aircon, done.
- Physical switches that keep working, whatever happens to the app, the hub or the internet.
- Voice assistants where the devices support them. Useful, but we do not make anything depend on them.
Designing for different people
- The person who likes to tinker gets the full dashboard and the settings.
- The rest of the household gets a handful of obvious buttons.
- Guests and helpers get access that needs no app and no account, such as keypads and wall switches.
Common questions
What if someone does not want to use an app?
They do not have to. Physical switches work exactly as before, and wall keypads or a simple tablet cover scenes and common actions.
Does everything stop working when the internet goes down?
No. Automations, wall switches, sensors and local dashboards run on the controller in your home. Only remote access and cloud-only devices pause until the connection returns.
Can I use Apple Home, Google Home or Alexa as well?
Where the devices and platform support it, they can sit alongside your own dashboard. We tell you which parts depend on a vendor service before you rely on them. See what Matter changes.
